Phew. I just finished watching the last 4 episodes of Fafner and they were just indescribable. So much revelation alone in the last episode, it was utterly breathtaking. Ever since the first episode, Fafner has just been too good at ripping my emotions to shreds every time I watch a single episode, because it's so human, so raw. There are so many things I still don't understand that I might just go back and watch all 25 episodes again to experience everything again. It really has one of the best storylines around. Unfortunately too many characters die, and it's so sad when they do. There are a lot of bittersweet feelings in this anime, and I suppose that just goes to reinforce the message of life coexisting with nothingness.
Ramble ramble ramble. Fafner love!
Oh yes I managed to fix the problematic comments box, so the link is there again, if any of you are eager to comment. Like, if there are people out there who are.
I did so little studying today compared with the last three days, I can see an exponentially decreasing trend over the week. I think I shouldn't push myself so hard; it's starting to have undesirable effects. I actually spent an hour just browsing (yes, just browsing) through Newtype April this morning. I've browsed through it three times since I bought it yesterday, each time just reading a few captions here and there. I realise that I am terribly lucky not to be living in Japan, because they have at least two or three animes on television every day. How to study? I'd become an even worse couch potato than I am now, because I'd be watching everything on television. Well, I'm sure Japanese people don't watch everything on television, but I'm just crazy about most things Japanese, so throw me in Japan and you'll find me hours later vegetating in front of a television surrounded by toys. Don't even get me started on the toys they have in Japan. And cheaper than they sell them in Singapore too! Why do Japanese imports have to be so insanely expensive in Singapore?
(As I was telling Chi Hsien in an informal discussion over lunch some months ago, if I ever become some high-ranking minister in Singapore - a hypothetical situation, obviously; if I do, please emigrate far far away - I'd invite Hamasaki Ayumi to Singapore to hold concerts - but she'd be really old and not singing by then anyway, bah - and I'd mass import Japanese products, much to the economical dismay of the nation. And I'd show anime like they do in Japan, and Jap dramas, and I'd live in those nice Jap houses with tatami floors and sliding doors and a nice rock garden. So if I ever do become a minister, it'd be a good thing for you to start liking Japanese stuff. Mwahahaha I'm nuts.)
I was reading this person's livejournal and she was talking about this calculus project she has where she has to use 4 non-linear functions to form the shape of a soda bottle when those functions are rotated about the x-axis, so I tried the four that she listed, and I don't think it looks like a soda bottle. In fact it looks like a bottle of vodka or something (now I have no idea what a bottle of vodka looks like and how it's different from a bottle of whiskey or gin or whatever, but I just have this strange idea that it looks like a bottle of vodka, no idea why). But wow, what a freaky calculus project. Now I can't believe I was silly enough to spend half an hour drawing graphs and digging out fossilised memories of transformations of functions.
But if any of you are interested, the functions are:
ln(x+4) + 4 , (-4< x <-1.24)
0.01x^2 + 5 , (-1.24< x <5.634)
-0.5(x-7)^2 + 6.25 , (5.634< x <9.881)
1/x + 2 , (9.881< x <14)
Have fun. Ok, well maybe not.
