Post-exam indulgences

Exams finally over, so it's time for some long-overdue blogging. I really don't have much idea of what to blog about though.

I'm not going anywhere overseas during this break (a bit regretful, but can't be helped also) so I'll be mostly clearing up my to-do list in Singapore. This includes:

Jap Dramas
Galileo (watched 7 episodes out of 10 so far)
Karei Naru Ichizoku (watched 5 episodes out of 10 so far)
Honey and Clover (watched 0 out of 11 episodes so far)
Proposal Daisakusen (watched 0 out of 11 episodes so far)

Anime
Gundam 00 (watched 18 out of 25 episodes)
Ouran High School Host Club (watched 13 out of 26 episodes)
Baccano! (watched 0 out of 13 episodes)
Persona -trinity soul- (watched 3 out of 13 released episodes in a total of 26 eps)
Code Geass R2 - starting Apr 6 in Japan

Manga
Catch up on Bleach (currently at chapter 269 or so, out of 315)

Series
Maybe watch season 1 of Prison Break if time allows (probably won't have the time sigh)

Computer games
Finish Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (never finished the Nod campaign due to school)
Play a bit of Sins of a Solar Empire that I just "acquired"

Books
Read a fair number - just started on Jean M. Auel's Earth Children series

Work
Refine my notes for MBBS - correct mistakes, add info, change font size etc
Complete my Med/Paeds accounts (still procrastinating!!)

Movies
Watch The Orphanage - this one's a must, probably going to watch it alone since no one else seems interested in it
"Acquire" Oscar-nominated stuff like There Will Be Blood, Away From Her, etc.

Food
Hanabi lunch buffet - already accomplished
Eat Haato or New Zealand Natural gelato/ice-cream at least once
More good food

Plays
Watch The Pillowman - accomplished

Liberal amounts heh

Mahjong
Hoping for some mahjong action but some prior-made plans fell apart. Please invite me haha.



Haha, that's quite a hefty to-do list. 3 weeks may be too short a time to finish all that, but I hope to get as much done as possible.

I went to watch The Pillowman on Wed - set me back by nearly 50 dollars for the ticket but it was definitely worth it. The acting was top-notch, especially Michael Corbidge who played Michal Katurian - such a superb mastering of nuances of voice and naivete that was both spine-chilling and hilarious - the entire first half was uplifted by his performance and made the second half seem long-drawn and slumbering in comparison. The other actors like Adrian Pang, Shane Mardjuki and Daniel Jenkins were also brilliant, especially the two police officers with their amusing good cop-bad cop act. The script, though a bit slow-moving at times, contained much dark humour even as it was quite gruesome at points. I loved the twisted children's stories that Katurian wrote - they are stories that I might write in a fit of dark pensiveness heh. Really loved the play, no wonder it was nominated for so many Life! Theatre Awards categories.


As mentioned in a previous post, I also enjoyed a Hanabi lunch buffet, on Tuesday, with Zf and E. I had read some bad reviews about Hanabi having poor service and lousy food lately, but for us the experience was pretty good all the same. Maybe it was because there were less people, it being lunchtime on a Weekday. The service was prompt and good, and the food was of much the same standard as the last time I ate there a year ago. The sashimi was lovely except for the tuna that smelt a bit strongly. The saba shioyaki is still to-die-for - crisp, salty, rich, absolutely delicious. Somehow we didn't eat as much as the previous time; our stomachs got too full too early so there was a bit of a wasted feeling. But it was an enjoyable, once-a-year kind of experience heh.


Nothing much to talk about already. I shall return to my attempts to decimate the items on that to-do list. XD
